The Open Spaces Project is a joint initiative between the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, Transport Malta and the Local Councils’ Association.
The aim of this project is to regenerate the squares and community spaces of our village and town cores by carrying out regeneration works, landscaping and pedestrianising identified spaces by diverting traffic on set days for set periods of time.
The idea is to have a safe and quiet space for residents, the elderly, children and families to spend their free time out in the open, while creating more opportunities for local businesses and merchants and creating a space for artists and local organisations to organise activities.
