Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg visited the Traffic Control Centre of the Road and Transport Authority in Daria, Dubai, where he was greeted by Traffic and Road Agency CEO Maitha Bin Adai, Corporate Technology Support Services Sector CEO Abdulaziz Al Falahi, Intelligent Traffic System Director Salahaldeen Almarzooqi, and Intelligent Traffic System Deputy Director and Manager Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali.

 
 
 
During the visit, the Minister had the possibility to view the traffic control centre of Dubai, while exchanges of best practices were discussed. Smart infrastructure for smart vehicles were also on the agenda. The two parties also shared ideas on areas of common interest.
Borg said that the sharing of good practices is of utmost importance. He said plans were in place to establish a technical committee between Transport Malta and RTA (Dubai) that would meet to explore possible areas of cooperation between the two authorities. He expressed his belief that despite the differences in the size of the population of Malta and Dubai, working together to find common solutions to similar challenges remains key in trying to improve the overall sector and more importantly making it as safe as possible.
