Gozo and Qrendi Airstrips

The aim of the Aviation Advisory Committee is to recommend, to the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, proposals for the possible regeneration of the Gozo Heliport and the Qrendi Airfield into eco-friendly and sustainable airstrips for both short landing and take-off aircraft and vertical landing and take-off aircraft. Such regeneration is vital to accommodate the ever-growing demand of general aviation operations. In case the of the Gozo Heliport, regeneration is also vital to further enhance the connectivity between the two islands.

In this context, the role of the sub-group is to scrutinise, on behalf of the Aviation Advisory Committee, proposals put forward in studies conducted by entities on both airstrips so as to ensure that these are environmentally friendly and feasible on the long run.
